History

The land of Khanh Hoa has a long history back in the primal time. At the beginning of BC, there were groups of Cham people who appeared and formed the Panduranga kingdom. In 1653, King Nguyen Phuc Tan invaded and took the land, established his reign there. In 1884, the Court of Nguyen Dynasty signed the Patenotre treaty with France to make Khanh Hoa under their authority. When Japan came, Nha Trang became the administrative agency, officially belonged to Khanh Hoa.

After 1975, many lands from the neighbor provinces merged to the place, forming the today Khanh Hoa with two cities of Nha Trang and Cam Ranh, and 6 towns.

Geography

Khanh Hoa has a diverse geography that includes mountains, plains, islands, and bays

Khanh Hoa sits right next to Truong Son Mt; therefore, almost area is mountainous terrain. The delta is very narrow, taking about 1/10 the area of the whole province. The easternmost point on the mainland of Khanh Hoa at Mui Doi on Hon Gom peninsula, Van Ninh district and also that of Vietnam.

Climate

Khanh Hoa is a province in the southernmost coastal region of Central Vietnam, located in the tropical savanna climate region. But the climate of Khanh Hoa has unique distortions with specific characteristics. Compared to other provinces and cities from Deo Ca in the North and from the Ghenh Da Silver to the South, Khanh Hoa’s climate is relatively more moderate due to the oceanic climate. There are usually only two distinct seasons, the rainy and the dry seasons.
